The Rose & Crown Solar Project, secured planning permission from Kings Lynn & West Norfolk Borough Council and transformed sheep-farmed land that was within a defended flood zone into a 30MW solar farm that works now works in tandem with sheep farming. The innovative approach showcased Elgin's commitment to optimising resources for sustainable energy solutions.
A 1.5km 33kV cable run connected the project to the distribution network via a third-party land connection point, minimising environmental impact. The project generates electricity to power 9,000 homes, 11,000 electric vehicles whilst offsetting 22,000 tonnes of carbon emissions annually.
As part of the UK Renewable Obligation Certificate (ROC) regime, the project secured a 1.4 ROC for a 20-year term, further underlining Elgin's commitment to sustainable energy practices.
Recognised for its groundbreaking impact, the Rose & Crown project contributes to a cleaner future and highlights Elgin's dedication to excellence and innovation in renewable energy.
